Outdoor Bouldering is low-level climbing without ropes

No but it helps, bouldering can be as simple as a staircase or as hard as you make it

Sports clothes

Climbing shoes, chalk and a boulder mat / crash pad. We also rent and sell these items.

Get your general fitness in check, perhaps try it indoors, then come play!

Anywhere there is rock you cna boulder ourdoors in Auckland. There is one boulder-only location at Stoney Batter on Waiheke Island. You cna also boulder at Stonefields, Ti Point, Waitomo, Froggat Edge and many more places.

Outdoor bouldering is as safe as you make it. If you climb routes that are not very high or dangerous while using large soft boulder mats with friends who are good spotters, you will be bouldering safely.

Spotting while outdoor bouldering is not catching your friend but supporting them onto their feet and guiding them onto the crash mat.

To fall while outdoor bouldering you should let go in a controlled manor and try land on your feet with your hands in front of you, land with bent feet to absorb the fall.

Fear of falling is almost never something you get over, but you simply manage better with time through understanding your mind, body and environment.
