International Award for Young People (IAYP)
The International Award for Young People (IAYP) is the world's leading youth achievement award and NGO holding full membership in the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award Association. Similar to the Duke of Edinburgh's Award, IAYP is mostly India-based, consisting of three levels and four sections. The implementation of the IAYP Award takes place through Open Award Centres (OAC), referred to as Youth Engaging in Society (YES) Centres.
International Award for Young People (IAYP) is administered under the guidance of the Duke of Edinburgh Award (DoE) and is available for students in Grade 9 and above at. At SNM, we offer Bronze, Silver, and Gold Awards, which promote personal growth, independence, perseverance, and a sense of responsibility to both the individual student and their community. These traits are highly valued by universities and employers.

IAYP sections
Typically the Award requires students to complete four components: Service, Physical Recreation, Skill, and Expedition (also known as the Adventurous Journey). For the Gold Award, an additional longer residential component is also required.

SNM aims to develop confident, responsible, reflective, innovative, and engaged learners while creating avenues for young people to develop skills, engage in physical IAYP activities, contribute to their local communities, and experience adventure.
The International Award for Young People (IAYP) was introduced in India in 1962 to empower young people to reach their full potential within the framework of Indian society, enhancing their moral, social, and intellectual well-being. Currently, over 240 institutions across India participate in the Award Program, with over 100,000 young people successfully achieving their Awards.
The Award is implemented through Open Award Centres (OAC) known as Youth Engaging in Society (YES) Centres, primarily consisting of schools and other educational institutions licensed to deliver the Award. The program consists of three levels and four sections:
Bronze: For participants over 14 years old
Silver: For participants over 15 years old
Gold: For participants over 16 years old
To achieve their Award, participants must complete all sections.

What is the international award for young people (IAYP) program?
The IAYP is a globally recognized self-development program designed for international students aged between 14 and 25. It offers young people the chance to acquire new skills, face challenges, forge new friendships, and experience diverse cultures worldwide. These opportunities are vital for international students to reach their full potential and become responsible citizens in the future.

The International Award for Young People consists of four compulsory sections:
Voluntary Service: This section aims to teach internationalstudents how to assist those in need, such as the disabled or elderly, through volunteering in hospitals, care centers, detention facilities, and similar establishments. It also includes IAYP activities like sports coaching, support for local newspapers, assuming leadership roles, conducting health surveys, and providing first aid.
Adventurous Journey: The adventurous journey section encourages participants to explore the natural world, historical sites, understand group dynamics in challenging situations, and embark on purposeful journeys.
Skills: In the Skills section, students develop practical skills and explore their interests in areas such as music, crafts, arts, games, life skills, and vocational skills. This section allows them to discover their passions, acquire new skills, and enhance existing ones.
Physical Recreation: The Physical Recreation section aims to keep students physically active and improve their performance in their chosen sports. Participants have the opportunity to engage in various sports and physical IAYP activities, including ball sports, water sports, winter sports, martial arts, dancing, and fitness activities.

History and Significance of IAYP (International Award for Young People)
The International Award for Young People (IAYP), initially known as the Duke of Edinburgh's Award, was established in the United Kingdom in 1956. Its founders envisioned a balanced and self-development program for young people transitioning from adolescence to adulthood.
Over the years, the program's numerous benefits have gained recognition worldwide, and it is currently present in over 143 countries. More than 8 million international students and young individuals aged 14 to 25 have embraced the challenge and participated in the program.
The minimum duration required to earn an award is six months. Participants receive the Bronze Award after six months, the Silver Award after twelve months, and the Gold Award after eighteen months. Gold Award recipients are also required to undertake a Residential Project.

SERVICE: GIVE BACK
Give back to your community by regularly volunteering. Teamwork and leadership conducted while attending unit parades and activities.
PHYSICAL: BREAK A SWEAT
Participate regularly in a team or individual sport eg: netball, soccer, kayaking, running, dance.
SKILLS: FIND YOUR GENIUS
Challenge yourself to improve your skills and widen your interests.
ADVENTUROUS JOURNEY: GET WILD AND EXPLORE
As part of a small team plan, train for and undertake an expedition or exploration for a set number of days in the outdoors. This includes 20 hours training in bush craft skills and a practice journey prior to undertaking the qualifying journey.
RESIDENTIAL PROJECT (Gold Award only): LEAVE YOUR COMFORT ZONE
Attend a Residential Project and undertake purposeful activity with people who you don’t already know.
Most of the GInternational Award for Young People residential training/courses can fall into this section. To meet the criteria of the Residential Project, trainees from the same unit who join the same course must be placed in different syndicates.
